Andy Stefan: Writer, Science Communicator, and Ecologist

Writer

I started writing when I was ten years old, after deciding one day that I was going to be an author. I taught myself how to type (incorrectly, I later learned), accidentally developed my own shorthand, and studied books like they were something I could decode, trying to understand why certain sentences worked and others didn’t. I read widely, filled notebooks, and occasionally shared my work.

My love of science came later, but was no less intense. I find the reality of the world genuinely delightful, and I like sharing that perspective with others in the hope that they might see some of that same beauty.

In the end, whether it’s fiction or nonfiction, I want to write in a way that encourages understanding rather than obscuring it.

This portfolio is a small selection of my work, but it should give a sense of how I write.
